idempotent law in a boolean algebra

show that a + a = a in a boolean algebra

a = a + 0
= a + (a. a' )
= (a + a ). (a + a ' )
= (a + a ). 1
= (a + a )

therefore a + a = a
note that the dual is a . a = a
