 the first 15 multiples of 8 are terms in an arithmetic progression (AP)

a= t1 =1*8 =8

Sn = (n/2) [a +L]

S(15) = (15/2) [8 +120]

=(15/2)*128

total number of logs is 200

so S(n) = 200 , n = ?

Sn = (n/2)*[ 2a + (n-1)d ]

 

200 = (n/2)*[ 2(20) + (n-1)(-1) ]

200 =  (n/2)*[ 40 - n +1 ]

200= (n/2)*[ 41 - n  ]

200*2 = n[41-n]

400 = 41n -(n^2)

top and last rungs are [5/2]m apart
