changing recurring decimal to fraction

change 0.48484848... into a fraction

let x = 0.48484848...
multiply by 100 ( to get the recurring digits on the other side of the decimal point )

100x = 48.48484848...

subtracting

99x = 48
x =48 / 99 = 16 / 33
