corned beef and cabbage

corned beef and cabbage seems to be a popular dish in America on St.Patrick's day
It is quite easy to prepare
It basically consists of boiling corned beef brisket in water with spices, pepper corns, till it is tender
then removing the meat and boiling the sliced cabbage in the broth from the beef
and then serving both cooked beef and cabbage with some mustard.

the word corn in corned beef seems to have nothing to do with the grain corn, but seems to refer to the salt put on the beef
